Hyliion Holdings Corp, a developer of sustainable electricity-producing technology, has signed a non-binding letter of intent with US Energy™, a leading developer and distributor of refined products, alternative fuels, and environmental credits. The agreement outlines plans for Hyliion to install a 200kW KARNO™ generator at a US Energy renewable natural gas fueling station to enhance energy efficiency and reliability at the site.

US Energy’s RNG fueling stations are at the forefront of promoting natural gas adoption in commercial transportation. The integration of Hyliion’s KARNO generator will further these efforts, supporting US Energy’s sustainability objectives.

Mike Koel, president of US Energy, commented, “We believe the KARNO generator will provide a reliable source of electricity, aligning with our sustainability and operational excellence goals. Hyliion’s innovative technology supports our mission of continuously creating efficiencies and improving our sites.”

The KARNO generator is a versatile, fuel-agnostic solution that employs a linear generator architecture to produce electricity both economically and efficiently. It can operate on various fuels, including hydrogen, natural gas, biogas, and propane, offering lower maintenance costs and significantly reduced emissions compared to conventional technologies.

Thomas Healy, founder and CEO of Hyliion, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “We are excited to work with US Energy, a company that shares our commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions. The KARNO generator’s versatility and efficiency make it an ideal fit for US Energy’s RNG station, helping to reduce emissions and optimise energy use.”

The LOI is subject to the finalisation of a binding purchase agreement between Hyliion and US Energy.
