The emissions calculations are powered by EcoTransIt, a widely recognised software tool, in combination with STC’s extensive booking data. This collaboration ensures that customers receive the most accurate estimates possible, based on:
- The mode of transport
- The loaded weight of the container
- The distance travelled
Supporting Regulatory Compliance and Sustainability Goals
The detailed insights provided by the tool are designed to assist customers in meeting regulatory requirements such as the European Union’s Non-financial Reporting Directive and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive. Additionally, the data can help optimise tank routing to minimise CO2 emissions, offering customers a practical way to reduce their environmental impact.
For instance, while inland transport often relies on trucks, in many locations, it can be more environmentally friendly to use barges or rail, which typically generate lower emissions.
